The PPP module has developed my presentation as professional
practicioner greatly, it has allowed me to communicate my positioning within
the field and put me in great stead for post graduation.
My Brand:
The digital material I use to communicate my practice
consists of a blog, website, instagram and a portfolio/cv. The use of social
media accounts such as Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr have been identified as
efficient tools of connecting with industry professionals and collaborators,
adherence to how the brand; me as a practioner, is perceived must be sustained
as professional, the social media accounts are not environments for the sharing
of personal material.
The need for printed material is void, apart from business
cards to use at the end of year show; the use of digital media is the most
efficient means of communicating, promoting and documenting my practice.
The curating of material on the blog; www.kieranewalsh.co.uk allows a
visitor the ability to see my interest, taste and inspirations as a creative,
this communicates a sense of my practice. The mergence of curated material and
my own work acts as a tool of promotion, attracting traffic with the sustaining
of a visual blog, to my own practice aids in gaining attention.
The use of a consistent handle – kieranewalsh grants
continuity and the ability for any interested parties to view different
iterations of my digital presence on several platforms. The professional manner
of this continuity is reiterated with the email address; mail@kieranewalsh.co.uk.
Design Strategy
The intent of working in the commerce of arts, culture and
fashion related industry dictates the need to communicate a ‘taste-level’ –
granting a potential employer/collaborator to understand my desired pracice and
creative direction as a proffesional. The curation of material would be
considerably different if my
practice was, for example branding design, rather the
communication of fashion, art and cultural visual matieral.
I believe the communications of my practice are effective in
promoting my abilities, specialisms and taste-level as a creative while being
presented in a professional, continuous manner.
I believe my investigation and refining of intent as a
designer have developed incredibly in the past year. My identification of postgraduate
opportunities has created great discussion with peers, tutors and
professionals, the subsequent informed opinion grants me confidence in
believing my direction into the industry is the right one.
I believe the documenting of my professional practice and
the tools to contact employers/collaborators with places me in good stead to
successfully achieve professionalism – the existing relationships with several
big names within my desired industry reflects, not only my identification of
who I am and what I want to be as a creative but my merit to interact
professionally - working at DAZED, the offer from TANK and interviews with LAW
and MUSHPIT reflect my self initiated involvement and interaction with the
professional industry - an attribute of professionalism I am proud of.
