OUGD502 PPP / Placement hunting / Dazed and Confused

Here is a transcript of a series of emails which resulted in a meeting
at Dazed & Confused in London on the 20th of April; starting on the 5th of March.

It was Danny that initiated contact between myself and Paul F, the features editor at a publication called
MAN ABOUT TOWN (Seen below).

My conversation with Paul F carried on as I believe him to be a nice guy and a contact in the future of course:

Owen M, editor of Dazed passed me onto the design team.

2 weeks went by without response so I took it upon myself to email a reminder.

This eagerness paid off and I received a reply from the Art Director ( Dream Job) of D&C; Jenny CC.

I replied with a portfolio.

Two weeks had passed and I believed I wasn't going to get a response as I believed my portfolio to not be good enough until I received this from Hannah F; a designer at Dazed.

After several emails arranging a date and time, we settled on the 20th of April.
I am currently sat in a Cafe, a few hours after the meeting on the 20th blogging this process.

The meeting with Hannah F went well and I had an insight into the Dazed and Confused HQ,

We discussed through my portfolio in a casual manner and then a discussion about my availability,

as of yet, it is still an informal offer but it seems to be true that I will be interning at Dazed and Confused for a month after handing in for the year.

I am incredibly happy about the prospect and somewhat overwhelmed that I will be working at a publication that I thoroughly enjoy and would consider an ideal job.

What would I gain from Dazed:

Working within an arts, culture and fashion sector would be an ideal as when you’re interested in the content, the design is more considered and stronger.

Combining my interests in the arts, culture and fashion as well as being in the target audience of the mag, it is content that directly relates to my lifestyle and future I would be working with. Working in an industry that excites me, with content that is both targeted at me and a great interest of mine would create a mergence of two brilliant aspects.
