This is the branding I attempted last year, reflecting on this currently I can see how this is weak in communicating my values and ideas as a designer.
As mentioned previously, the labelling of 'Graphic Designer' is something I'd like to avoid, although I do believe I need a more defined to role to enter the industry, I understand a Creative director needs several years of experience, unless a huge ego is involved of course.
Disregarding this work of mine and beginning again with the intentions I have mentioned previously, I am to begin branding myself as a studio;
Kieran: Simply using my first name could be a possibility although this could create an embarrassing irony if I ever outsource work on a project. It could also be seen as an expression of my ego, possibly off putting clients.
Walsh: My surname; similarities with Jessica Walsh, Sagmeister&Walsh can be created here, something I would like to avoid.
Q: Derived from the sound of my initials (kew), this more abstract idea could be used while creating a sense of anonymity in terms of a single practitioner. I believe this to be a strong idea however after research, most variations of Q have been used, Q Magazine, Studio Q etc. Although I realise most variations of any name have been used previously, for SEO priority I desire to find an unused name, a fairly unique combination of possibly letters, numbers and other marks to create ubiquity.
KEW: Initials are an overused idea.
K / : K with a forward slash, this can portray innovation, progression but also seen as an italic I resulting in KI(eran).
K X : K followed by an X, this portrays collaboration however I believe they're are several unwanted connotations with the use of X that I would like to clearly avoid.
I believe K / to be the strongest of my ideas and where I see the most scope in relation to design and concept scope.

Both K/ and KI can be interpreted here. I have used askidenz Grotesk as the leg of the stems from the arm, this is essential as an abstract 'W' can also be seen, example are shown later.

A curve on the leg of the K adds an expressive sense however detracts from the abstract W.

The abstract W.

The abstract W is distracted from when used with the curved leg.

I have decided against using a lower case i as the K/ is lost.

An experiment in typefaces, using a typeface with serifs detracts from the K/ idea.

K/ can be used in conjunction with my name, although I am against using my name, I believe including it somewhere in a promotional pack is necessary.

The use of outline is common in contemporary Graphic Design, the strongest interest of mine in Design.
